[NEWS - innovation under threat]
Howard Rheingold used the keynote speech at the O'Reily Emerging Technology Conference to warn that innovation is under threat. One of the causes mentioned, as in Lessig's book, was tight control of the radio spectrum.

[NEWS - copyright law... a bit off the point, but interesting]
According to a story on The Register, RIAA executive Hilary Rosen will be helping to write the copyright law for the new government of Iraq.

[NEWS - court ruling on P2P]
25 April 2003 - a federal judge has ruled that Grokster and Morpheus (P2P software providers) cannot be held liable for illegal uses of their technology. The judge compared the software to VCR's and copying machines (photocopiers?).

This is my "hello world" posting, so don't expect any actual content. I've set up this blog as part of a short course I'm doing with the Open University, called "Law, the Internet and Society"... and I guess if you're reading it, you're probably on the same course :) This blog will contain notes made about this course, and maybe an occasional doodle in the margains.
